Police incident closes one lane of the M4

It is all happening on the M4 this morning. A police incident has closed one lane of the eastbound carriageway near Cardiff.

It was closed for safety between junction 30 Cardiff Gate and junction 29, but has now reopened.

Power outage causes M4 junction lights failure

Police say they have had reports of traffic light failure on M4, Junction 28, Tredegar Park roundabout and Pye Corner.

A statement from Gwent Police said it was due to a “National grid outage”.

Adding: “If you’ve been affected by this power cut, please phone your local electricity network operator on 105.”

M4 re-opens after early morning crash

Emergency services were at the scene of a serious crash that closed part of the M4 for a time this morning.

Two lanes were closed westbound between junction 35 Pencoed and junction 36 Sarn for a time but they have now reopened.

Met Office forecast for Saturday

A weekend of showers and sunny spells. Here is the full forecast for Wales today:

A mixed start to the weekend with early rain clearing to sunny spells interspersed with blustery showers, some heavy and possibly thundery. Feeling cool with below-average temperatures for July. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Showers easing through the evening to leave a largely dry night, though some beginning to push back into southwestern coasts from dawn. Feeling cool under clear spells with light winds. Minimum temperature 10 °C.
