Drug Dealer Who Sold Crack Cocaine From Cardiff Hotel Shouts Vile Insults At Judge

A drug dealer who travelled from Birmingham to Cardiff sold crack cocaine while operating from a Travelodge hotel. He verbally abused a judge after he was jailed for four years, shouting “Suck your mum bruv, you’re a b***y man”.

Ismaeel Javed, 21, was arrested following an investigation by police who attended a Travelodge hotel in Cardiff city on September 16, 2021. Intelligence had been received that class A drugs were being sold by people staying in a room at the hotel.

A sentencing hearing at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on Friday heard police approached a room which had a “Do Not Disturb” sign on it, but used a card key to access the room. They discovered Ismaeel Javed with co-defendants Yusuf Jawed, 21, and Jubayr Mousaf, 21, and two other men. For the latest court reports, sign up to our crime newsletter here

Prosecutor Nuhu Gobir said Javed was found in possession of 12 wraps of crack cocaine worth £120, and a fake wrap. He was also found in possession of £400 in cash and a mobile phone, which was seized along with phones belonging to Jawed and Mousaf.

Messages were found on all three phones which indicated the defendants were involved in drug dealing. CCTV from the Travelodge showed Javed coming and going from his hotel room for short periods of time, with the prosecution stating he was dealing crack cocaine during those trips.

The court heard the defendants had travelled to Cardiff from Birmingham the day before. Javed was also found to have collected drugs from an upstream supplier at Aston University in Birmingham, after messaging the dealer to say he was on his way with cash.

Upon his arrest, Javed claimed he was being forced to sell drugs. The defendant, of Mardon Road, Birmingham, later pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply class A drugs, and being concerned in supply of class A drugs. Jawed, of Sladefield Road, Birmingham, and Mousaf, of Hangleton Drive, Birmingham, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cannabis. All defendants were of previous good character.

In mitigation for Javed, defence barrister Rag Chand said his client was a teenager at the time of the offences and suffered from mental health difficulties. He said the defendant was of low level intelligence, is a registered carer for a family member, and looks after his father who had suffered from a number of heart attacks.

Sapna Devi, for Jawed, said her client is hard-working and has a promising career in front of him as a technician with Aston Martin. Gulam Ahmed, for Mousaf, said his client was essentially dealing to fund his own habit and to make money.

Judge Richard Kember sentenced Javed to a total of four years imprisonment. The defendant was caught using his phone in the dock and verbally abused the judge. He said: “You’ve sent me down for four years when I’ve turned my life around. Suck your mum bruv, you’re a b***y man”.

Jawed was sentenced to eight months imprisonment suspended for 16 months. Mousaf was sentenced to six months imprisonment, suspended for 12 months.
